More and more we hear people speaking of the “end of the world”, and there is little question that we are in high gear toward the “end” of this age. In the language of the prognostics we are on a downward trend that will eventually see everything falling into disarray and collapse. They see no recovery!
Following the “marriage supper of the Lamb”, (Rev. 19:1-16) we are told that John beheld “heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name if called The Word of God.” A couple of verses later we read “He treads the winepress of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, ‘KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS’.”
There are things indicated in the verses that follow that has to do with Armageddon; that is followed in Chapter 20 of Revelation with the promise of a Millennium of peace. If one notes carefully the quality of what follows, you will read with mixed emotions. “And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had worshipped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand, and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.”
To rule and reign with Christ for a thousand years – Back to verse 4 to see who qualifies… “And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus…” QUITE A QUALITY!
