FOR OR AGAINST?

A very pointed discourse concerning HATE!  It is found in John 15:18-27.  It is so powerfully stated that the majority of people you show it to will deny it to be the case.  A quick retort to the presentation of God and Jesus and their inter-relationship, as well as that of the Holy Spirit in verse 26; whether it be a jarring insult or a camouflaged  unacceptable ramble, it is a rejection of God!  Such an offence against the Almighty is HATE!  It crosses swords with what has been made known to us through the Scriptures!  It is a rejection of TRUTH!

Jesus has just stated that you can ask God, “in His Name” (Jesus), and it will be given you.  That is not a glib “in Jesus name”, it is asked in His name because of who He is and what He has done as one with the Father.  Then, to add to that He says: “In that day you will know that I am in the Father, and you in Me, and I in you.” (V 20)

“Jesus answered and said to him, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will keep My Word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.  He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me’.” (v23, 24)  These statements indicate, contextually that we either LOVE or we have hated, in a rejection of His LOVE.

It is most interesting to note that such strong declarations are followed by the discourse on Peace.  “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you, Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” (14:27) One who rejects God’s love is in effect, hating the message of love in the redemptive provision of God toward men.
