Perhaps this is a way to make the same old price in actuality look identical.

When our first child, Steve, was born, we decided that we needed a scale to keep check on his weight.  After observing a few dozen, we decided on an old fashioned one, because it was far more accurate than the others.  With them, the slightest movement and you did not have an accurate reading.  Our choice was like one that they had in the grocery store back home.  I remembered how the old grocer would touch it with finger, up or down, to make sure that it was exact or what he must do to make everything balance accurately.

I am told that in the “old” days there were those who carried two sets of weights; one accurate, and the other favorable for his profit.  I noticed this week that the tissue boxes are a little smaller and the tissues a little smaller.  Perhaps this is a way to make the same old price in actuality look identical.  I am not saying that is the case, but I am wondering!  Of one thing I am certain… we are felling fewer trees, and certain folk are so happy that they are slobbering over each other, while others are saying “I am being ripped off!”

After that paragraph, one has to conclude that the wise man, in writing Proverbs, probably left us by saying: “Things have not changed!”

There are some choice morsels in the verses that follow.  We read: “But a just weight is His delight.  When pride comes, then comes dishonor, but with the humble is wisdom.  The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the crookedness of the treacherous will destroy them.”

Comfortableness and being uncomfortable are before us.  Honesty and integrity are actually our only choice!
