REPETITIVE?

“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.”

On occasion I am certain that some of you feel I am repetitive; and you are right!  No matter how I try to check my behavior in that area, I sometimes feel an “urge” that sends me scooting to a precious truth that needs repeating.  When I have that feeling I search my heart to find if it is just a feeling or a leading of the Holy Spirit.  What you are not aware of, is the times I either delete portions or the entire script.  This Blog has one intention only, not to see how many people it can declare that have visited it, but rather the specific individual (s) that God would minister to as a result of my desire to encourage them to a right relationship to God.

For instance!  2 Peter 1 has that little statement “those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

After pondering that, consider this one: “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.”  Or, you might reflect afresh on “Grace and peace be multiplied…”

When you get to verse 3 Peter says: “His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness…” He adds, “called us by His own glory and excellence.”  In verse 4, “granted us His precious and magnificent promises…become partakers of the divine nature.”

In verse 2, it was “multiplied”, in verse 3, it was “granted”, here in verse 4, he repeats “granted” and from there he tells us: “diligence, moral excellence, knowledge, self –control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, love.”  Quite a challenge to our human calculator!

I shall not stop there; what does he tell us about the summation of these qualities if they are being practiced? “For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ!” (v8) I leave you with that multiplication table for today! May the Lord encourage you to keep adding, and therefore multiplying, in His grace and graciousness!
