Reading the Book of Isaiah today, I could very as well be reading the morning News. Think, this was probably written, perhaps as much as three to four thousand years ago. Someone said that it is so graphic that it is “Enuf to break God’s mirror!”
There is a tenfold indictment in Chapter 1…
- You have revolted against me (v 2)
- Israel does not know (v 3)
- My people do not understand (Consider) (v 3)
- Alas, a sinful nation (v 4)
- Weighed down with iniquity (v 4)
- Offspring of evildoers (v 4)
- Sons who act corruptly (v 4)
- They have abandoned the Lord (v 4)
- They have despised the Holy One of Israel (provoked)(v 4)
- They have turned away from Him (v4)
SOLUTION
- Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean (v16)
- Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight (v16)
- Cease to do evil (v16)
- Learn to do good (v17
- Seek justice (v17)
- Reprove the ruthless (v17)
- Defend the orphan (v17)
- Plead for the widow
RESULT
“Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18) “Truly the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” (Isaiah 1:20)
