We have been living in a period where liars abound! Then, maybe I am sufficiently ignorant that I lack the ability to discern who is telling me the truth. It is a sad commentary of our times when “trust” in what I am being told is negated, because there is such an abundance of “untruth”.
Remember the old saying: “Speak the truth and shame the devil”! Words are utilized in such a manner that manipulation of the mind, of the one something is being told, will ultimately draw an improper conclusion.
Solomon wrote: “An evil man is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous will escape from trouble. A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his words, and the deeds of a man’s hands will return to him…He who speaks truth tells what is right, but a false witness, deceit. There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Truthful lips will be established forever, but a lying tongue is only for a moment. …Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal faithfully are HIS delight…a prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaims folly…Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a good word makes it glad…a lazy man does not roast his prey, but the precious possession of a man is diligence. In the way of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death. (Selected verses from Proverbs 12)
One cannot help but notice words that have to do with our speech, our mouth, our tongue, our words, our lips, and they can be detrimental – they can be deceitful. When one speaks the truth, they need not fear! It has and will always stand the test of time! Lest I fail to emphasize – God will be glorified!
