HOMESICK FOR HEAVEN

You might have been exposed to my saying that God declared in His Word that basically, a man’s life expectancy would be 70 years, and if he lives to 80, “yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; for soon it is gone and we fly away.” (Psalm 90:9, 10). Interestingly the 12th verse of that Psalm says: “So teach us to number our days that we may present to YOU a heart of wisdom.”

One thing for sure is the accuracy of the Word of God.  We notice that the addition of age gradually is accompanied with getting to know more doctors on a consistent basis.  With the addition of specialists, you sometimes end up visiting numerous physicians for the same problem.  Subsequently we start to look forward to the time when all of this that we have experienced will be gone, and we will have entered the glories of eternity.

A friend of ours wrote this week that: “Jeanie started her Heavenly journey venture on the 8th at 7:15 P.M.  Her funeral is tomorrow.”  I had never heard it put in those exact words, but you have to admit, they were unique and meaningful.

When the Apostle wrote to the Corinthian believers about the ultimate of their faith in the Lord Jesus as their Savior, he said: “For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.  For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven, inasmuch as we, having put it on, will not be found naked.  For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but be clothed so what is mortal will be swallowed up by life.” (2 Corinthians 5:4)

Numerous tidbits in the verses that follow!  Our body is currently but a “tent”.  We will not be limited to 70 years, plus or minus.  We will be in “heaven” and not upon this earth, which is under the curse.  We will not have to “groan”.  We will be “clothed” in a “new body”.  Mortality will give way to “life”.  We will be absent from the body and present with the LORD!

This is God’s PROMISE to those who Love HIM and Serve HIM!
