Having lived in New Jersey for a number of years, it was my privilege to have in the congregation numerous individuals involved in multiplied areas of research. They were brilliant individuals in their fields. They were also solid in their convictions as relating to the Word of God, admirably so!
There is so much difference between those who do research from their understanding of Scripture, and those who are devoid of Scriptural instruction. In particular, how they approach creation as the pre thought of the Lord, and what He did so long ago that they are just now “discovering”.
After Paul began writing to the church at Rome, he indicated how he desired to come there to preach. He understood the situation! There were those who had already received the Word concerning Jesus Christ and those who had not only rejected it, but were persecuting Christians. He makes it clear as to his call of God to preach to “Greeks and to barbarians”. The possibility of death did not lessen his enthusiasm; his FAITH was solidified in God, and in Jesus Christ. As we move through Romans 1, we also catch clear comprehension of things in creation that, in it-self, should have been sufficient to see such as evidence that would turn them to God and ultimately Jesus Christ.
The saddest part in what Paul says is that: “Therefore God gave them over to the lusts of their hearts to impurity… they exchanged the truth of God for a lie.” There was not a “gradual” downgrade of thinking, but a violent eruption of the brain that “exchanged the truth of God for a lie”. The extent of such thinking is elaborated in the verses that follow.
It was from this chapter of Scripture that the Reformation took place. Read afresh the 17th verse. It should immediately suffice to solidify your faith in our wonderful Lord and His creation of which we discover more each day.
“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “BUT THE RIGHTEOUS MAN SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.” (Romans 1:17)
