Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
It is a very personal appeal and we find it back in Genesis 7:1 where God says to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this time.” In the older versions the word “COME” starts the verse. To think that God had allowed this old world to sink to a place where He says to Noah, “for you alone”.
While the Lord Jesus was here on earth, He spoke to a group (Matthew 11:28-30) that were obviously deeply oppressed and said: “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
The Holy Spirit beckons John in Revelation 21:9 to COME and view the “Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven… the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” More detail is added in subsequent verses. Twelve gates, each made with a single Pearl, and the glory of God illuminated it.
There is that verse in Revelation 22:17 that says: “The Spirit and the bride say, “COME.” And let the one who hears say, “COME.” And let the one who is thirsty COME; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.
The songwriter put it: “Into my heart, Into my heart, come into my heart Lord Jesus.” Come to Jesus, who invites you to COME.
