GOD’S MEGAPHONE

“Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.”

1 Peter 1:10-11

In this day of “magic” communication through IPhones and Internet, the word Megaphone is so far removed from our vocabulary that we are prone to wonder if it ever existed. I heard a brother in the Lord referring to the Books of first and second Peter use that phrase: “They are God’s megaphone in shouting to a deaf world.” Many are they who have hearing problems without ever recognizing that to be the case. Whether it be dirt or disease, I am certain our supplementary mechanisms are almost deafening, and I would be prone to believe that an archaic megaphone might be a superb replacement.

All of this background makes one dig and discover that Peter was not presenting something new, but rather he makes reference back to something old, a message that was there in the Old Testament, but only a limited number of those O.T. saints had caught what was taught…GRACE. (1 Peter 1:10, 11) A majority were so enamored with the KING that was coming, that they failed to catch the message concerning “the salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries, seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.”

One can become so infatuated with the King and His Crown, that they have lost all focus as to the prophecies that must be fulfilled in advance. Even today, many have no identification with the cross and then what followed…a tomb, and a resurrected Savior, seated at the right hand of the Throne of God interceding on behalf of those who plead His blood for the forgiveness of their sin.

Chapter after chapter, book after book, verse after verse present the evidence, and yet some are still leery of the claims Christ has made on their lives. The message is “megaphoned”, heralded forth to us as individuals. Christ paid the price needed; the Holy Spirit plants the seed, and God applies the blood essential. Your belief, followed through finalizes and seals ones eternal salvation.
